Monfragüe National Park

Located in the north of Cáceres province, in Extremadura, Monfragüe National Park is a benchmark for the conservation of Mediterranean woodland and scrubland ecosystems. Declared a natural park in 1979 and a national park in 2007, this protected area covers approximately 18,396 hectares. It is internationally recognised for its exceptional birdlife and landscapes shaped by dehesas, rocky outcrops and the Tagus and Tiétar rivers. In 2003, it was designated a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve.
