Cabo de Gata-Níjar Natural Park

Cabo de Gata-Níjar Natural Park

Located in the province of Almería, Andalusia, Cabo de Gata-Níjar Natural Park was declared in 1987 as the first protected maritime-terrestrial area in the region. It covers around 38,000 hectares of land and 12,000 hectares of marine area. Renowned for its volcanic origin and semi-arid climate — the driest region in Europe — the park features 63 kilometres of coastline shaped by dramatic cliffs, secluded coves and unspoilt beaches. It has also been designated a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve and Global Geopark.
