Sierra de Grazalema Natural Park

Declared in 1985, Sierra de Grazalema Natural Park was the first protected area in Andalusia and has been a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve since 1977. Located between the provinces of Cádiz and Málaga, it covers 53,411 hectares. The park is known for its dramatic karst landscapes, deep gorges such as Garganta Verde, and exceptional biodiversity, including the emblematic Spanish fir (Abies pinsapo), a relic species from the Ice Age. It is also one of the wettest areas in the Iberian Peninsula, with annual rainfall exceeding 2,000 mm.
